September 2025: Audiobooks, Chestbursters, and Indie Offerings

Murder in Soft Words

Cover of Murder in Soft Words

At 23:54 (that’s 11:54PM for you civilians) I hit send on an email with a draft of Murder in Soft Words attached. That email was to the freelance editor I’ve used for all three books in the Great War of the Worlds series.

It will be available as an ebook on 11/30 with a paperback soon after. Get your preorders in here.

Clouds in the Future Audio

Audiobook cover for Clouds in the Future

The Clouds in the Future audiobook will be available on September 23, except on Audible, where it will be available on the 30th, probably for reasons involving monopolies and punishing writers that aren’t in KDP.

Personally, I recommend buying your audiobooks from Libro.fm or, really, anywhere else.

What I’m Watching: Alien: Earth

Poster for Alien:Earth

I saw the first Alien movie in theaters back when it was released. It was how I discovered HR Giger and while I’m not sure if it’s the first sci-fi/horror mashup I had seen, but it’s definitely the first I remember. But as much as I loved the film, I never expected it to turn into a franchise, and I really didn’t think much of it when it tried to be one.

Until now. They’ve knocked it out of the park with Alien: Earth.

On paper, it sounds silly. “ZOMG, the xenomorphs make it to Earth!” That’s the pitch I heard, and I admit I rolled my eyes. But I watched the first episode after hearing some positive feedback, and was utterly hooked.

The series set in 2120 and is, as hinted above, mostly set on Earth. There are a few very significant sequences set on a ship reminiscent of Alien’s Nostromo but this series is about xenomorphs on Earth, with a cyberpunk flair.

Meme of Leo DiCaprio pointing at a tv.

They’re brought to Earth, along with a few other alien species. The how, why, and inevitable consequences of this decision make the show some of the best sci-fi I’ve seen in a long time. While most of the films in the franchise have been well, *meh*, this series takes the themes hinted at in the first film and fleshes them out with a 21st Century sensibility.

Please, if you’re a science fiction fan, check this series out. The last episode of the first season hits streams this week.

Indie Author Promo

Looking for something to read between now and release day for Murder in Soft Words? Well look no further!

I’m participating another set of offers from independent authors right here! The headline says AI, but the books cover a broad set of science fiction themes, and I know you’ll find one that interests you! I picked up a few of them myself!
