New Patreon

I've already mentioned starting a new project a few times this year, but I've been light on details. Well, I finally have something to share! I'm working on a new book and am posting chapters on Patreon (not here) as go. The first one is over here.

I'll be posting new chapters every Monday, and also sharing cover art, research notes, etc. as I go. I'm planning on releasing an audiobook very soon after the ebook and paperback, so they'll be some background information on that, too.

The new series is called "Meanderings of a Marked Man." It's about a man who was born eight hundred years ago and is, after a very bad day, cursed to live forever. He's not thrilled about being immortal, but he's not brooding about it either. (No whiny vampire stuff.) He's usually just trying to do his best.

The idea for this series came to me a long time ago. I've been fascinated with immortal characters since first seeing Ra's al Ghul in Batman comics in the 1970s. The idea of a long-lived character with a different perspective on the world sparked my nascent interest in alternate history. The first Highlander film added fuel to the fire, although the television series stopped playing with history, and quickly grew bogged down with immortal politics.

Meanderings will use the immortal trope to explore history. How has the world changed? How has humankind grown? How have we most definitely not grown?

Reading chapters as I go will remain free. After two weeks each chapter will shift into the archives, which are accessible for a $3 a month. People subscribed at the $3 level will get a copy of the complete eBook in November.
