Podcasts and Patreons
For better or worse, "getting the word out" is a big part of being an independent author. A few years ago, posting on Facebook or Twitter was nearly enough. But things have changed. The ROI on Facebook is nearly zero, Instagram is an uphill slog, and Twitter is dead to me. So, what to do?
Podcasts.
While not as popular as they were during the pandemic, podcasts are an effective way to reach people. I listen to a bunch myself, and I've found quite a few new reads that way. So, while I'm not incredibly comfortable on camera or talking about myself, needs must. I signed up for a podcast matching site (affiliate link) and plunged in.
And so far, I've been pleasantly surprised. Joe Russiello from the Joe Rooz Show reached out to me on the platform with a message that told me he understood what The Great War of the Worlds. I wasn't familiar with Joe's show, but after listening to a few episodes, I knew I made the right call. He's a fantastic interviewer.
You’ll find it on YouTube or Rumble, or grab the audio version from the feeds here. (My name is in the episode title.)
